I’m the founder and filmmaker at Alita Films, a documentary production company. As a nonfiction visual storyteller, I create videos for a wide variety of brands, nonprofits, and news organizations. Originally an undocumented immigrant from Argentina, Eduardo Daniel Vilchez has been involved in media and video production since 2001 in all capacities in front and behind the camera. “A dreamer before Dreamers,” Mr. Vilchez knows the importance of supporting communities of color and the importance of mainstream narratives and how they bring about positive change where it is most needed. Born in Brooklyn and raised in suburban New Jersey, Kevin Dougherty was a film and comic book fanatic from an early age. After a stint at New York's School of Visual Arts, Dougherty got a job at a local cable company, directing commercials for pizza parlors and cell-phone stores. Dougherty began his film career as a production assistant in New York. During the making of “Bonfire of the Vanities” he incurred the wrath of director Brian DePalma after refusing to let him on set without proper identification. He spent the rest of the shoot guarding an empty parking space in an underground garage. While a freelance producer at Byron Preiss Multimedia, he enlisted illustrator Drew Friedman to handle art duties for “My Cool Diner”, an interactive kids’ game that was released by Simon and Schuster in 1997. Gilbert Gottfried, Billy West and Uncle Floyd Vivino were also part of “My Cool Diner.” He wrote and directed “Fuzzball” for Nickelodeon's animated series “Ka-Blam!” Long before YouTube, he created “Juanita & the List” an early web cartoon that racked up more than a million views through an ad-hoc network of websites like Spin.com, Showtime.com and Wired.com. Dougherty directed music videos for The Locust, The Nervous Return, an Albatross and others. For more than a decade Dougherty managed the Cafe Metropolis, an esteemed independent music venue in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He is currently at work on a documentary film about Drew Friedman, “Vermeer of the Borscht Belt”

As a television journalist, videographer and editor trained in investigative and field reporting, I have successfully produced award-winning stories for decade for multi-platform local and national news outlets. I grew up in New Jersey, where I read the news into my parents camcorder as a kid, so it's not surprising I wound up immersed in video production. Early in my career, I learned to pursue my instincts, rather than follow the pack. This gave me courage to leave my first news job out of college, as an assistant producer at Fox News Channel, to anchor for an online business news start up in the midst of an economic meltdown. This helped me jump into the world of on camera reporting. Over the past 12 years my career has evolved from an intern at NBC's Today Show to reporting for major-market newsrooms including PBS and PIX11. I've investigated rail safety in the wake of deadly crashes and revealed crossing equipment failures at one of the nation's largest transit agencies, prompting reparative action by lawmakers and the agency, as well as a nod from the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences. During my role as a correspondent for NJTV, I uncovered hundreds of deceased voters names still on the rolls and casting ballots. I've learned that successful stories come when you can pull the personal human experience out of the data and documents. Recently I forged a partnership that enables me to rebuild dilapidated housing in burgeoning areas of my home state, allowing me to further another passionate mission - entrepreneurship, economic development and beautifying neighborhoods in my home state.
