Gabriel recently returned from directing and DPing a short documentary on the border of Gaza. His anticipated short film Latent will be released this year, and Gabriel is in mid-stage preproduction for his first feature length project, "Benji's Hour," having just made public the concept trailer for it: vimeo.com/404372408. Aside from coming on as DP, services Gabriel can provide on a client to client basis include graphic design, still photography, 1st AC, film/commercial editing, writing, and directing. Award winning writer and director Gabriel Kahane's work has screened all around the country, winning him a Grand Jury Prize at the Oscar qualifying Flickers Rhode Island International Film festival and screening at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theater. Gabriel's DP work has given him vast knowledge of current industry grade digital cinema equipment, having worked with a variety of cine-cameras, lenses, and grip equipment. Gabriel is proficient with the Arri, Canon, Sony, and Blackmagic cinema camera series; though he is able to work with any camera. His main priority is to work very closely with the director to bring their vision to fruition, while offering ideas and expertise in the process. Kahane' s work tends to live in the realm of independent narrative film, but he has worked both above and below the line on commercial projects and feels at home in the world of corporate video and advertising. Gabriel's primary concern is creating professional and quality content on par with the project's vision.

I am a Bulgaria-born, Chicago-bred, Brooklyn-based photojournalist, editor and writer, driven by a passion for creative visuals, science, technology, climate change, the economic and political state of the world, art, architecture, anthropology, the beauty of the written word, and the true sense of equality. I aim to create and curate visuals with style and meaning — whether in a historic context or just beyond the surface of mundanity. What's more, as an immigrant to U.S. shores, I very much care to bridge humans’ understanding of one another — and most of all, connect the work I do as a woman in a male-dominated industry behind the camera, to how women manage in the world in front of it. My current and past clients, both across the States and the world, have included National Geographic, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Getty Images, Reuters, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The Chronicle of Higher Education, THE CITY, Bloomberg, Yahoo News, AFP, Rolling Stone, Nature, Discover, New York magazine, Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, TIME, USA Today and the Chicago Tribune, among others. I have received awards from PDN’s Photo Annual, NPPA, American Photography and TED's Visualizing Climate Change contests; grants to further my projects from the National Geographic Society, the Pulitzer Center, the International Women's Media Foundation, Getty Images + Panasonic Lumix and Leica Camera; and have exhibited my work via Photoville, Leica Camera, the International Center of Photography and Bulgaria's National Gallery of Art. I have also taught journalism and photography courses and led workshops through the Pulitzer Center, Brooklyn Public Library, NYU, The School of The New York Times/Fordham University, and Leica Camera USA. No matter the time zone or topic, you could find me at x or +1.x.

It won the Doc-a-chusetts Pitch, LEF Moving Image grant and Cambridge art grants, and was a finalist at Fork Films and Chicken & Egg. Nicole also makes documentary shorts and series. I am a New Orleans native-based photographer; but I also work out of Houston, New York, and DC. I am obsessed with portraits. It is all about the process of creating the portrait, and the story behind the portrait. The process of creating the portrait is a mark of true craftsmanship. I try to capture portraits that are honest. I often use black and white photographs to achieve that. I believe black and white photographs allow me to see; to truly see. When color is absent it is all about the architecture of the photograph; the light, the emotion, the tonality, the lines, and the shapes. It allows me to see deeper. If you prefer your photographs to be in color, that’s fine too. My priority is my client. In order to deliver the best possible product to my client, I get to know who they are, what their needs are, and what their vision is.
